John Henry Humerick was born December 9, 1856, in Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Zacharias and Mary E. Wilhide Humerick. On March 10, 1880, in Graceham, Frederick County, Maryland, he married Caroline Augusta Engle, daughter of Nicholas and Anna Eva Gall Engle. They were the parents of 11 children, 8 of whom lived to adulthood: Emma Delwine, Lottie Mae, William Steiner, Mary Anna, Ida May, Florence G., Phoebe Viola and Margaret Elizabeth Humerick. John Henry passed away on August 16, 1930, in Graceham, Frederick County, Maryland, and was buried on the 19th in Graceham Moravian Cemetery there.

"John Henry Humerick died Saturday about noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Grushon, near Graceham, aged 73 years. He is survived by one brother, Charles Humerick, Lewistown, and the following children: Mrs. Grushon, Mrs. Emma Newman, Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania; Stewart (sic--should read Steiner) Humerick, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Florence Sweeney, Hagerstown; Mrs. Ida Peomroy, Detour; Mrs. Mary Schwartz, Lovettsville, Virginia; Mrs. Phoebe Gue, Dickerson; Mrs. Lizzie Starr, Frederick; twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, with services at the Graceham Moravian Church, in charge of Rev. E. D. Bender. Interment in the Graceham Cemetery. M. L. Creager and Son, funeral directors."

Rev. E. D. Bender was in charge of services. The pall bearers were: Lemuel Bowers, John Pittinger, Robert Colliflower, William Cramer, Clyde Young, W. E. Smith. M. L. Creager and Son, funeral directors."
