He enlisted in the CSA at Lunenberg, Ark Infantry under Shaler during the Civil War. He was listed as absent, ill in the hospital in Little Rock in 1863. In Sept. 1864 he was again reported ill, in the hospital and it was then that Union forces captured him. He spent the rest of the war in Jefferson City, Cole Co., MO.,
