Rodger J. McKnight, 89, died Dec. 30, 2011, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Rodger was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Clinton, Mass., to George and Mildred (Freitag) McKnight.
He served four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged in January of 1946.
Rodger was an active member in the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club.
On Feb. 2, 1946, Rodger married Neva Donaldson. They were married for 65 years.
Rodger is survived by his loving and caring wife Neva of Prescott Valley; son Michael (Pam) McKnight; and daughter Patti (Kim) Shafer. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Shawna, Sherrick, Shane, Michelle and Nathan; and six great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Nathan, Miley, Logan, Brooke and Joseph.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Kirkland Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kirkland. A Celebration of Rodger's life will follow at 10 a.m. also at the Kirkland Brand of the LDS Church.
Grave dedication will follow the services at Genung Cemetery in Peeples Valley with full Military Honors.
Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel assisted the family with final arrangements.
