Nyla Marie Barnes, 83, Mt. Vernon, died at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, in her home. She was born Oct. 30, 1928, in White Church to Frank Albert and Tyma Jane (Briles) Eldringhoff. She was a 1946 graduate of West Plains High School. She moved to Mt. Vernon in 1947, and was a homemaker. She attended the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.
She married George Edison Barnes Dec. 31, 1949, in Huntsville, Ark. He died Oct. 16, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Barnes, New Bloomfield, and Frank Barnes, Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Vivian Stephens, Washburn; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 30 at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nyla Barnes Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
