Harold R. Rockefeller, 94, of Sewell, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Washington Twp. Born in Boston, MA, he was a resident of Pitman for 65 years before moving to Sewell 3 years ago. Mr. Rockefeller worked for Conrail in Philadelphia for 39 years as a Manager of the Coal Department. He was a member of Pitman Lodge #97 F&AM, Excelsior Consistory, the Shrine Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Pitman American Legion. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942 - 1946 and saw action in the Battle of the Rhineland. Harold enjoyed casino trips, playing cards, stamp and coin collecting, and especially his family. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Mary (nee Beal); brother-in-law, Walter Haberlein; sister-in-law, June Purtell; nieces and nephews, Eileen, Carol, Janice, Linda, Mary Helen, Sandy, Austin and Norman; and many great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside funeral services on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Delsea Drive, Hurffville, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of MATHIS FUNERAL HOME of Glassboro.
