Ancestry can be traced back to Sir William Boleyn, the grandfather of English Queen Consort Anne Boleyn and William's father Sir Geoffrey Boleyn I (1380-1440), who was a descendant of Edward I and his first wife, Eleanor of Castile, through their granddaughter Eleanor de Bohun.

On the paternal line, the lineage extends to John Alsop (1547-1606), the lord of Alsop-en-le-Dale and his descendant George who emigrated to New England, US in 1600s.
