Neva B. Miller, age 89, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Agrace Hospice Care Center in Madison. She was born March 16, 1922, in Bloomer, Wis., the daughter of Harvey and Stella (O'Connell) Bitney.
Neva graduated from Bloomer, Wis. high school in 1940. She spent two years at Illinois State University prior to meeting Bill Miller at a 4-H fair.

Neva married William Miller of Portage, Wis., on Nov. 24, 1943. Neva worked as a Research Assistant with the State for 15 years until she retired. Neva was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

In 1976 Neva and her husband built a house in rural Rio, Wis. where they lived for 10 years farming and gardening. They returned to Madison to be closer to family and friends. Neva enjoyed camping, taking trips and supporting various charitable causes.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann (Michael Patton) Hobbs of Madison; three sons, Lynn (Lori Powell) Miller and Brian (Lori) Miller both of Madison, and Bruce Miller of Black Earth; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee Bitney of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington Avenue, Madison, Wis. where friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. The Reverend Ken Smith will officiate. Burial will be held at 12:00 noon at Highland Memory Gardens and will include a brief grave side service.
