He was born June 27, 1935, in Quicksburg, a son of the late William Scott and Effie (Runion) Runion.
Mr. Runion was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Before his retirement, he was employed by Mary Baldwin College with 28 years of service.
In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Therese Runion of Aurora, Neb.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Raymon Goble of Staunton, Sylvia and Neal Tafrawe of Waynesboro and Brenda Richer of Staunton; four sisters, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens
