Ballerina. She received fame as French ballerina, teacher and choreographer. Born Alice Andrée Marie Perron, she studied at the Paris Opera Ballet School and joined the company in 1930 but left in 1933 to guest abroad, returning in three years time and in 1940 was promoted to Etoile (Principal). She remained with the Paris company until 1960, although she spent some time touring and guesting in France abroad with her own small company. A virtuoso technician and expressive actress, she danced all the major ballerina roles excelling particularly in "Giselle" but also created leading roles in many new ballets, including Lifar's "David Triomphant" in 1937, "Sylvia" in 1941, "Suite en blanc" in 1943 and Balanchine's "Le Palais de cristal" in 1947. She choreographed two works for the Opera, one of the few women ever to do so and successfully re-worked "Sylvia" for them in 1979 also staging it for the National Ballet of Peking in 1980. She gave her farewell performance in "Giselle" in 1959 by which time she was already director of the Opera Ballet School from 1957 to 1959), the first woman appointed to the position. Between 1963 and 1664, she was maîtresse de ballet at Nice Opera Ballet and between 1971 to 1976 professor of dance at the Nice Conservatory. She returned to the Paris Opera School in 1975 as a teacher. She made her big-screen debut came with "Douce" in 1943. Among her many honors are Commander de l'Ordre National de Mérite, Chevalier des Artss et des Lettres and Légion d'Honneur. She was the half-sister of the well-known dancer, Serge Perrault.
