Jacob Henry Barter, 85, died Sunday at his Hemet home. Born in Richmond, Maine, Mr. Barter lived in Hemet 23 years. He worked at Rockwell International for 34 years until he retired as a manager in 1986. He served in the merchant marine during World War II.
Mr. Barter was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Ramona Shrine Club and the Ramona Rovers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madelyn; a daughter, Linda Manns of Hemet; two grandsons, Dan Manns of Los Angeles and Randal Manns of Costa Mesa; and a great-granddaughter, Nicole Manns of Costa Mesa.
Memorial services will be at noon Friday at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet. Burial will be private.
