from the neighborhood several months.
Amherst Co., Va. Edward Demasters, a Revolutionary Pensioner, declares about 1781 when on a march to the south, he saw William Campbell at Hood's Fort on James.
Nelson Co., Va. Phillip Ryan declares he went as a militia man from Albemarle Cpunty under Capt. Richard Ballinger and marched to Hood's Fort on James River. He served with William Campbell.
Nelson Co., Va. Henry Campbell declares in 1781 he was drafterd from Amherst County in militia service and marched under Capt. John Loving and was four months on a tour and at the siege of Yorktown. His brother William Campbell on Nelson County was in the same company. William also served a tour at Hood's Fort.

to York where he was present an the surrender of Lord Cornwallis 19 Oct 1781. He was enbgaged in this tour nearly six months.
