Former Willamina and McMinnville resident Donald Edward Aase of Gleneden Beach died of cancer July 22, 2002, in Lincoln City. He was 65.

A private family service will be held.

He was born April 9, 1937, in Northwood, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Juliette Mostrom Aase. He later moved with his family to Willamina. He graduated from Willamina High School in 1955.

He and Patricia Bice were married in 1955.

Mr. Aase lived in McMinnville from 1960 to 1968 and worked for Rex Mobile Homes. He then moved to the Lincoln City-Gleneden Beach area.

He and Delores Lorraine Trussell were married in 1973.

He served in the Oregon National Guard for 13 years, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He had worked as a bartender in The Pines Restaurant and Bar, Lincoln City.

Mr. Aase loved gardening and walking. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Douglas Edward Aase and Clyde "Shane" Aase, both of McMinnville; three sisters, Joann Shetterly and Marylee Fox, both of Willamina, and Sharon Kidder of Aloha; three stepsons, Bruce Trussell of Stayton, Billy Trussell of Eugene and Brian Trussell of Salem; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Aase.
