Richard Lucien "Ricky" Bride, 64, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011.
He was the son of Grace L. Bride of Dinwiddie and the late Raymond F. Bride. He attended the "Old Carson School" as a child and graduated from Dinwiddie High School. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Bride was a life member of Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, a member of Blandford Lodge No. 3 A.F. & A.M., and a member of Second Baptist Church. He retired from Verizon after 34 years of service.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bride is survived by his wife, Martha W. Bride; son, Richard Craig Bride and wife, Dawn; daughter, Kimberly Bride Bryant and husband, Jonathan, all of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Jessica Bryant, Hunter Bride, Noah Bryant and Carson Bride; sister, Carol B. Miller; sister-in-law, Janice F. Whitley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Joseph Lewis officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, 100 B Highland Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.
