Served as a Private in Co. B, 16 LA INF CSA in the Civil War. He married 1st Hannah Davis (b. 1847; d. bef. 1886) in 1862. They had 5 children: John H., William Pinkton "Pink", Martha Ellen, James Ladrick, and Flemon Filmore (Sr.). He married 2nd Francis A. Olaphant (1852-1910), and they had 7 children: Thomas Claude ("TC"), Nancy G., Scott M., Laura E., William Wallace, Jeanette, and Edna Ada. The 1920 US Census showed him living with his widowed son - James Ladrick Morgan.
