Dorothy J. Steinke, age 84, passed away December 21, 2011.

She was born in Red Oak, Iowa, on July 15, 1927, and a Council Bluffs resident since 1930. Dorothy retired in 1980, after 25 years of service as Secretary at Fuchs Machinery and Supply in Omaha and also served as Secretary for First Commerce Farm and Ranch Management. A longtime member of Fifth Avenue Methodist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Pansy Sumner Kendall; husband, Richard Steinke, (2005); sister, Virginia Kendall; and daughter-in-law, Sally Steinke.

Survivors include her three sons, John R. Steinke, Jerry W. (Gloria) Steinke, all of Council Bluffs, James E. (Patti) Steinke, of Blair, Neb.; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation Monday, 12 noon to 1 p.m., followed by Funeral services at 1 p.m., all at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Pastor Kim Brouse, Fifth Avenue Methodist Church, Officiant. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Fifth Avenue Methodist. Memorials to the church preferred.
