Sister Rose Carmel Schorsch, CSA, died peacefully Thursday, December 22, 2011, at St. Francis Home where she resided.

Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on February 3, 1912, to John and Teresa (Zahn) Schorsch, Sister was baptized Ida Mary. She had four sisters and one brother, all of whom preceded her in death. Sister Rose Carmel entered the Congregation in June 1926, and was professed on August 15, 1931. Sister was assigned to teach in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and New York. After she left the classroom, Sister served as a homemaker at Nazareth Heights Infirmary from 1977 to 1990, when she became a resident there; she moved to Nazareth Court and Center in 1998, and, as her health declined, to St. Francis Home in 2007. Sister loved singing and listening to music as well as playing the maracas with the resident choir. Even as she was dying, she hummed Christmas carols with the sisters sitting with her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Teresa and John Schorsch, her sisters Julia Curran, Anna Braungart, Mary Ferguson, infant Anna Schorsch, and her brother Christopher Schorsch. She is survived by loving nieces and a nephew, and the Sisters of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed and ministered.

Visitation: Visitation for Sister Rose Carmel Schorsch will be held Tuesday, December 27, from 10 AM to 1:45 PM at Nazareth Court and Center, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac. A prayer service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 27.

Memorials may be directed to the Sisters of St. Agnes Development Office, 320 County Road K, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
