From 1907 until she was married Kate worked at the Puget Sound Glove Manufacturing Company, located in the Bell Town District of Seattle. She was a cutter and machinist.

Kate met Ed Hinterberger around 1915. They dated steady for ten years. They were married on May 13, 1925, at the St. Benedict Catholic Church, in the Fremont District of Seattle, King County, Washington. After the wedding Ed and Kate traveled with her brother Steve to her father's place on the Tanana River outside Fairbanks, Alaska, where they spent their honeymoon.

After returning to Seattle they made their home in the old Wenzel family house until they had their own (brick) home built just around the corner at 3728 Woodlawn Avenue North, in the Fremont District. They lived just up the street from her sister Bertha.

Ed and Kate were unable to have children, so they raised numerous dogs, starting in the early 1930's.

In 1946 or 1947 they bought a lot and built a cabin on the shore of Lake Cavanaugh in Skagit County, Washington, where lots first opened for sale in August 1946. Here they spent many summer days fishing and cruising the lake. Around 1970, after becoming too elderly to drive, they sold the lake property.

Kate died suddenly while at the bathroom sink. She was buried on December 9, 1971. Her pallbearers were a few of her nephews: George Pearce, Steve Pearce, his son Mark Pearce, Mike Richardson (grandson of her sister Bertha), Leo Wenzel, and his son Allan Wenzel.

Kate was always happy, very much in love with her husband Ed, and loved being with her family.
