Joe was born Oct. 28th in Grand River, Ky., to Clyde and Eula Stafford Lanier. Joe was united in marriage March 22, 1975, in LaGrange, Ill., to Patricia Morgan. He had lived in the Chicago area before coming to the Montello area in 1989, and permanently moving here in 1995, and worked for Westfield Machinery and Manufacturing Co. He enjoyed fishing, reading, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs and especially enjoyed his family. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1962.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pat, of Montello; three children, Joseph Lanier of Chicago, Michael Lanier of Endeavor and Kevin (Jess) Lanier of Poynette; nine grandchildren; brother, Richard (Mona) Lanier of Decatur, Ill.; and a sister, Vickie (Anthony) Stewart of Crofton, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rob.
