Robert Lee Johnson

Mr. Robert Lee Johnson, son of Rosie Mary Clark and the late William Johnson, was born July 27, 1939 in Canton, Mississippi. Robert Lee soon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he received his education from Indianapolis Public Schools #23 and Crispus Attucks High School.

Robert Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthurine Janie Brown August 30, 1963 and to this union, two children were born.

Robert Lee was employed by Allison Transmission from 1973-1985. He was then employed by Rolls Royce from 1985-1997. He was employed by Chevrolet from 1997 and retired in 2003.

Robert Lee was very active in the Indianapolis community. He was a member of UAW Local 23 and UNCF. He was also an active volunteer in the Indianapolis Black Expo, the Indianapolis Circle City Classic, Meals on Wheels, and other various community organizations. He also enjoyed jazz music, dancing, and sports.

Robert Lee was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was caring, hardworking, and a very giving person.
Robert Lee departed this life on Monday, December 12, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospice at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory, his mother, Rosie Mary Clark, two daughters, Aretha Susan Johnson and Deneen Antoinette Johnson-Lewis (John), brother, Paul Alexander Clark, sister, Rose Marie Golden (Tyrone), four grandchildren, Antione Bonner, Deondrea Owens, Rashad Brewer, Deasia Lewis, one great-grandchild, Davari Owens, two nieces, Antoinette Rochelle Sanders and Victoria Nichole Mobley (Marlon), one nephew, Jason Allen Sanders (Tamera), and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at Berean Bible Church, 5602 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Calling: Friday, December 16th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home; Remembrance Hall. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
