Virgil Yates (Jiggs) Crawley married Bernice Weeks from Pensacola/ Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Jiggs and Bernice had no children. Jiggs retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant with 27 years of service. He was a World War II veteran. After retiring Jiggs and Bernice lived in Melrose, then Hawthorne, Florida. Jiggs and Bernice are buried beside each other in the Eliam Cemetery in Melrose, Florida.

Jiggs was one of the 13 children of Henry Lee Crawley and Sarah Josephine Brandon Crawley.
