1st Lt. Owen E. Payne, killed in action , June 22, 1944, at Johat, India. Member of 77th squadron, 66th co., formerly of 7526 S. Eggleston avenue, son of Paul and Lauretta McGinnis Payne, brother of John, Gertrude and Rita S. Payne, nephew of Police Officer James McGinnis, of Gresham station. Remains will arrive at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 1948. Resting at funeral home, 6915 Wentworth avenue. Funeral Saturday, 9 a.m., mass at St. Carthage's church. Interment St. Mary. Military services conducted by Hagaman post, No. 495, American Legion, Friday, at 9 p.m.
