He married LaVetta Ilene Overman on May 8, 1944 in Troy, Doniphan, Kansas. They were blessed with 4 children. His career was farming, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He believed in conserving the land for future generations. He loved the outdoors, and in his later years he would drive his 4 wheeler around checking on crops and livestock.
