ANN MARIE O'DELL was born July 27, 1953, in Norfolk, Va., to William and Helen Cignoni and died Nov. 13, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was raised in Ashland, Ky., attended Ashland Public Schools and graduated from King's Daughters School of Nursing in 1973, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Ohio University in 1990. She worked at Mercy Hospital, Portsmouth, Ohio, King's Daughters Hospital, Ashland, Ky., and took an early retirement from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 2001, after 25 years of service. She also worked part-time at the health clinic for Special Metals and as a staff nurse for Cabell Huntington Hospital. After 34 years experience, she finally retired in 2007 due to health conditions. Ann enjoyed her experiences through the years as a nurse, nurse manager and case manager. She held a special place in her heart for all veterans of the armed forces. Her mother, Helen Cignoni, preceded her in death; along with her maternal grandparents, Franklin Wilder and Rosa Tuminelli; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Edith Cignoni; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include her loving husband of 29 years, Clyde O'Dell; her combined family of five children, Michael R. O'Dell Sr. and wife Beverly, Christy VanZandt and husband Robert, Susan Thacker and husband Christopher, Solomon O'Dell, Rachel Elkins and husband Benjamin; 11 grandchildren, whom she loved more than anything; her father, William Cignoni and wife Norma; sister, Nancy Gainer and spouse Robert; two brothers, Robert Cignoni, James Cignoni and wife Bonnie; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins; two aunts, Ruth Obando and Marilyn Loomis. She enjoyed hobbies of reading, sewing quilts and other homemade items for her family, sports, and was a fan of Wayne High School softball, Marshall University and West Virginia University. She will be greatly missed by all she leaves behind. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, and funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Pastor Ron Scarberry. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, W.Va.
