On the night of March 25, 1996, 15-year-old Joey Martin snuck out his bedroom window to meet two teenage boys he thought were his friends at their clubhouse in the woods and was never seen again. He was a high school track star at Rondout Valley High School and was scheduled to compete at a track meet the next day.

Joey is survived by his mother, step-father, brother, and sister. His father passed away seven years earlier.

Joey's remains are considered unrecoverable.

One of the two perpetrators was also responsible for a second murder and will probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
