Son of Melvin L. (deceased) and Mahala Corey; born December 16, 1894 at Argos, Marshall County, Indiana. Educated in Virginia Military Academy and Marquette University. Employe of Western Union Telegraph Company. Enlisted in Marine Corps on November 29, 1917 at Louisville, Kentucky. Trained at Parris Island, South Carolina; assigned to 83rd Company, 6th Marines, 2nd Division. Embarked for overseas in March 1918. Killed in battle of Chateau-Thierry on July 19, 1918 near Vierzy. Died at age 23 years, 7 months, 3 days. Time in service: 7 months, 21 days.

Pvt. Lowell COREY, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. COREY, of Argos, was killed in action with the Marines in France on July 19th, according to a cablegram reaching his home Wednesday. There were no particulars. Corey enlisted last November and went overseas in April.
Besides the parents, two brothers, Lieut. Lawrence COREY, of Chillicothe, O., and Earl COREY, of Argos, and a sister, Miss Hattie COREY, of Argos, survive. Mr. and Mrs. Corey are in Deerwood, Minn.
