Married to Baker Branch Roop February 18, 1900 at the Cocke's home near Cifax, Bedford County Va. From Idella Roop Hawkins story "Pa burnt the preachers britches" Their wedding day was cold and snow was on the ground. Emily's father made a roaring fire in the fireplace in front of which the preacher stood. By the time the preacher pronounced them man and wife, his pants were smoking from the heat of the fire.
