Georgina Cooke was a victim of the Halifax Explosion. She perished along with her two young children. Her husband and infant daughter survived.

Georgina was the daughter of William and Maria Cooke.

She married William Andrew Cook in 5 April 1910, Halifax. They had four children:

William George Cook (1910-1911)
Andrew Percy Ernest Cook (1911-1917)
Dorothy Alice Cook (1914-1917)
Marguerite Cook (1916-? survived)

The Halifax Memorial listing mentions the names of Andrew, Percy and Dorothy, also infant daughter who died with Georgina. This is Marguerite who survived.

Although here is a listing for both Alice and Dorothy having died, it is more likely they were the same child. A family member had done a write up on the family a few years ago and mentioned only three children, Andrew, Dorothy and Marguerite at the time of the explosion. The addition of "Alice and Percy" were most likely caused by mis-communications.

At the time of the explosion the family was living at 48 Veith Street.

The charred remains of the family were buried together in Mount Olivet.

Georgina's husband, William, later re-married.
