MARGARET HOLMES LAW: 74; whose 45 years in the Lakewood Public Library system touched the lives of many people, especially children; died Monday at Lakewood Hospital of cancer.
Mrs Law, a widow 38 years, was married to Dr. Clarence L Law. She was a longtime resi-dent of Lakewood & last lived just outside of it on W159th. She attended Lakewood schools, the former St Therese Acadamy, old Cleveland College, Western Reserve School of Library Science & the University of New Hampshire. For 15 of her 45 years as a librarian, Mrs Law was children's librian at the Madison Ave branch & for 16 yrs was head librarian there. MrsLaw wrote a great deal of poetry. She was a member of the Ohio Poetry Soc, Daughters of the American Revolution-Lakewood Branch & Sigma Tau Delta, a writers fraternity.
She is survived by 2 cousins. MrsLaw's father, Charles H Holmes, was general manager of the old Pennsylvania Railroad. His forebears were pioneer settlers in Ohio, having Holmes County named after them.
Mrs Law often said she was most proud of her summer reading classes that she began for children. She recently wrote: "Oftentimes there were 100 children in the summer reading class, many of whom are still my friends." She considered a 16year series of social & cultural affairs for elderly people her greatest accomplishment.
Memorial services will be tonight at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church-Lakewood. Grave-side services will be tomorrow morning [11-3] at Lakewood Cem.
