Lorens Aleksndrian, 77, of Granite City, Illinois died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. He was born March 30, 1934 in Istanbul, Turkey, the son of the late Amerek and Araksi Aleksandrian. He retired from Spectralite Consortium after many years of service as a welder. He was a member of the Holy Virgin Mary and Shoghagat Armenian Church in Belleville and enjoyed his days of gardening and cooking. The love and special times shared with his family will never be forgotten. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon K. (Eggemeyer) Aleksandrian whom he married September 9, 1961 in St. Charles, Missouri; three children, Lorens (Lauren) Aleksandrian of Edwardsville, Roxanne (Robert) Portell of Maryville and William (Jackie) Aleksandrian of San Marcos, California; four grandchildren, Sarah Portell , Caitlin (Ryan) Cocker, Lynley Aleksandrian and Payton Aleksandrian; two great grandchildren, Eli and Lola Cocker; other extended family and friends. Visitation: Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Powell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Ellis Grove Cemetery in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
