Mark was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the age of 13, he move to El Cerrito,California with his mother. He attended El Cerrito High School, graduating in 1982. He attended Diablo Valley College and San Fransisco University, where he studied film.

In high school he discovered his love of theater, performing in many high school theater productions. While in high school, Mark began a 30 year love affair with the Contra Costa Civic Theater, first as an actor and then as a counselor and director of the CCCT Summer Drama Camp for children. At camp it was sometimes difficult to determine who was having more fun - the campers or Mark.

Mark loved to play softball; he organized a team in El Cerrito. The Fellas, which soon dominated the league. When he moved to Los Angeles he played softball 4 or 5 times a week, usually pitching. He was an avid sports fan, and loved the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Lakers. He also loved playing his team, the Eliminators, in the Fantasy Football League he started with his brother Ray, 20 years ago.

In Los Angeles, Mark worked as a bartender, first at the Roosevelt Hotel and then at Pt. Moorea, the sports bar at the Wilshire Grand Hotel. Mark was the Roosevelt's unofficial historian and loved sharing it's history with guests.

Mark was diagnosed with cancer in January 2008. It slowed him down, but he continued live his life as he wanted, minus the softball. He went out dancing most nights when he wasn't working. He travelled to Paris twice and even participated in a skateboard marathon in March 2011, completing 13 miles. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully on November 27, 2011 with his family by his side.
