Ida was the daughter of Fredrick "Fred/Fritz" Janz and Caroline Aust.

The family surname changed for Jens to Yanz to Janz (pronounced Yontz).

Mr. Janz was born June 28, 1879 in Illischestic, Rumania and immigrated from Austria on "Sofia Hobenberg" to New York City in 1906. He became a naturalized citizen on December 3, 1926 in the state of Washington. His wife, Caroline was deceased by 1926 and he died October 1969 in Tacoma, Pierce Co., Washington where he had been a cabinet maker.

Ida had a brother, Walter William Janz [see FAG #106110733].

Gustav "Gus" Aust was Ida's first husband and father of her son, Robert Dale Aust [see FAG #103579782]

Ida married her second husband, Garnett T. Grubb while he was working as a mechanic at the International Harvester Co. in San Diego, California.

After moving to Wythe County with her husband, she became a member of the King's Grove Methodist Church in Crockett, VA and worked as a telephone operator with the United Intermountain telephone company.
