Tiffany Lea Abare, 14, died Sept. 26, 2000, at the home of family friends in She was born Nov. 30, 1985, in Rutland, daughter of Derrick and Melanie (Vandenburgh) Abare. She received her early education at Lothrop Elementary School in Pittsford. She had just completed her freshman year at Otter Valley Union High School in Brandon. She enjoyed crafts and anything to do with the moon and stars, being with her friends and "Winnie the Pooh." She fulfilled a lifelong dream this summer when one of her doctors permitted her to pilot, with his assistance, his private airplane. Survivors include her father, Derrick R. Abare, and his companion, Deborah Serrani of Florence; her mother and stepfather, Melanie and David Stone of Etawah, Tenn.; a brother, Timothy Abare of Florence; a half-brother, Kyle Stone of Etawah; a stepbrother, Dana Atwood of Rutland; a half-sister, Katlyn Stone of Etawah; three stepsisters, Melissa Atwood of Florence, Nicole Stone and Christina Stone, both of Whitehall, N.Y.; her maternal grandmother, Brenda Vandenburgh of Rutland; her maternal great-grandmother, Edith Hussey of Windham; her paternal grandmother, Karen Abare of North Clarendon; her paternal grandfather, Ronald Abare, and his wife, Helen, of Rutland; her step-grandparents, Janice and Ned Hayes of Hubbardton; her beloved companion, Donald Bushey of Mount Holly; many aunts and uncles; and two nephews and many cousins. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven. A graveside committal service and burial will follow at 1p.m.in North Windham Cemetery in Windham. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 4 South Park Place, Fair Haven. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 7 Albert Cree Drive, Rutland, 05701 or to Make A Wish Foundation of Vermont, 100 Dorset St., South Burlington, 05403.
