Father of pop diva Celine Dion died at his home in Montreal. Celine credits her career to the sacrifices her father made for her.
Adhemar, who once worked as a butcher and a security guard, was the father of 14 children. Celine, 35, is the youngest. Adhemar and his wife, Therese Tanguay-Dion, were both musicians who owned a cabaret in Charlemagne. They often played there on weekends, and included young Celine on stage with them.

He was at home in Laval, Quebec Canada and surrounded by family at the time of his death. He had an unspecified illness.

Therese Tanguay and Adhemar Dion were introduced to each other one summers night in 1944. The two families had got together for a reunion ... Therese was asked to bring her violin along, so as she played it, she stole glances at Adhemar. It wasn't long till everyone joined in, Adhemar playing the accordian, bringing the living-room alive with their tunes and folk melodies. Therese and Adhemar were falling in love ...

On the 20th June 1945 they were married at the Saint-Zephirin Church and by christmas of that year, Therese was pregnant with their first child.

This household was a musical one! Everynight they would play musical instruments and sing, with Celine watching in awe, then eventually joining in. This was a household maybe poor in wealth but rich in music and harmony, but most of all ... love. He will be missed by loved ones!

The funeral was held in Charlemagne, northeast of Montreal.
