"Manley O. Kemp, in ill health for the past three years, passed away Sunday at half past two at his home five miles south of Belmont.
Mr. Kemp was the son of the late Peter and Mary Elizabeth Hollingsworth Kemp, and was born near Belmont on February 2, 1883. He was formerly a very active member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, now abandoned.
On May 13, 1914 he married to Myrtle Wilcox. She survives him, as do the following: two sons, Clifford and Manley of the home, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Ogilbee of Warnock, Mrs. Myrtle Belle Carpenter and Mrs. Inez Butler of Barnesville, two grandsons, one sister, Miss Catherine Kemp of Belmont, and eight brothers, Clifford, Peter Jr., George, Dennis and Andy, all of Belmont, and Victor, Chalmers and Justin, all of Bethesda. A sister, Chloe Wilcox, preceded him in death.
The remains were taken to the Kelley Mourtuary, and returned to the home on Monday, and Wednesday taken to the Chestnut Level Christian Church where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. They were conducted by the Rev. Eugene Williams, and interment was made in Ebenezer Cemetery."
