Corrine Elizabeth Sale Coffey

Corrine Elizabeth Sale Coffey, of Amherst, died November 24, 2011, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the last surviving child of the late Edward Daniel and Verdie Wilmer Sale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Elmer Page Coffey.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Sale, Emmett Sale, and Forest Sale; sisters, Mabel Stinnette, Elsie Dunnavant, Grace Burford, Susie Thornton, and Eleanor Davis.

She was a loving mother to her children, Doris Ferguson (Wayne), Janet Williams (Tunney), John Edward Coffey (Janey), and Steveson Elmer Coffey (Susan). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Philip Camden Jr. (Wanda), Jennifer White (Larry), Angela Camden, Cheryl Palmer, Geoffrey Jones (Lynette), Gregory Jones (Angela), Sarah Coffey, Ashley Coffey, Jonathan Coffey (Tanya), and Nathan Coffey (Bethany); great-grandchildren, Philip Camden III (Mary), Logan Jones, Colin Jones, Natalie Jones, Jillian Jones, Naomi Jones, Abigail Jones, Landon Coffey, Laura Coffey, and Nicholas "Cole" Coffey; and one great-great-grandchild, William Page Camden, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Through her life she showed remarkable strength and courage. Following the death of her husband, she remained on the family farm until her recent illness.

She was a life long member of Midway Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. by the Rev. Hugh Bumgarner and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Allwood Cemetery, Buffalo Springs Turnpike.

The family will receive friends tonight, Saturday, November 26, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the home of Steve and Susan Coffey.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church, c/o: Randy Fauber, 3671 Lexington Turnpike, Amherst, VA 24521, or to Pedlar Rescue Squad.
