She graduated from the teaching program at Indiana State Teachers College. She was employed by the Lafayette School Corp., as a teacher for 20 years teaching kindergarten at Crouch Elementary School, and retired in 1981. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, former Noble Grand of Rebecca's, and hosted missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1979 to 2006. She was also an avid antique collector and enjoyed reading.
