George W. Malone Jr., 64, of 256 Stapleton Road, Springfield, a retired worker at the former Chicopee Falls plant of the Uniroyal Co., died Tuesday in Baystate Medical Center. He had also been employed as a bus driver for the National Center of the Black Aged. Born in Trenton, N.J., he had lived in Springfield most of his life. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a past commander and charter and life member of Carl L. Talbot Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Harrison Wright Post, American Legion.
He leaves his wife, the former Phyllis Peters; a son, George P. of Springfield; a daughter, Aileen R. Malone of Springfield; his mother, Dora Malone of Springfield; a brother, Eugene of Springfield; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday morning at Henderson Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday evening.
