Paul George Leis, 76, of rural Cashton, WI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 27, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. His loving family was by his side.

Paul was born February 22, 1933, to Tony and Anna (Marx) Leis in the Town of Jefferson. His siblings included: Herbert Leis (deceased,) LeRoy Leis, (deceased,) Marie Whitehead, Walter Leis (deceased,) Eleanor Leis (deceased,) Rose Ann Hundt, James Leis, and Kenneth Leis.

He graduated from Cashton High School. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Donna (Hurtz) on April 4, 1951, at St Peter's Catholic Church in Middle
Ridge. He was a farmer and welder by trade. Paul's true passion was his family. Some of the legacy for the love of his family is in the form of a "party house" which which was built specifically for and is being used for the many celebrations of a very large and ever-growing family. He enjoyed a Sunday drive even though it might be a Wednesday or Thursday and was always ready for a good game of cards.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna, and their 11 children. Rodney M. (Karen) Leis of Houston, Texas, Diane (Dave) Schwarz, Cashton, Dennis (Karen) Leis, Sparta, Steve Leis, Sparta, Michelle (Robert) Brown, Cashton, Greg (Julie) Leis, Cashton, Laurel (Ken) Gotz, Holmen, Bridget (Mark) Mlsna, Cashton, Thomas (Shelly) Leis, Sparta, Kelly (Jane) Leis, Cashton, Christine (Steve) Roberts, LaCrescent, MN.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Stephanie Mouton, Adrianne Micheletto, Karly Anderson, Grace Leis, Sara Cook, David Schwarz, Jesse Schwarz, Beckie Hemmersbach, Matthew Leis (deceased,) Melody Leis, Michael Leis, Mandy Leis, Chastity Mashak, Gabe Leis, Tony Brown, Adam Brown, Scott Brown, Chad Leis, Jeremy Leis, Ashley Sondreal, Rob Gotz, Sandra Gotz, Eric Mlsna, Charlie Mlsna, Tyler Mlsna, Hailey Leis, Austin Leis (deceased,) Vanessa Leis, Morganne Leis, Lisa Roberts, Joe Roberts, Nick Roberts, Mitchell Roberts.

"Great Grandpa" will be missed by Colette & Claire Mouton, Gavin Micheletto, Ryder & Nash Anderson, Ethan, Aiden & Quinn Cook, Vincent, Adelaide & Elise Schwarz, Isaac, Faith & Noah Hemmersbach, Bradley & Audrina Schwarz, Devan & Dawson Mashak, Madeline, Addison & Hayden Leis, Vivian Brown, Avery, Aaron & Tammi Leis, Lucas Gotz, Parker Mlsna, Taneesha & Kasey Roberts with six more great-grandchildren expected soon.

Although he will be dearly missed, we know that he will be smiling upon us and in his special way telling us to "keep smiling".

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church on Middle Ridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation, Wednesday, December 2, 2009, 5:00 ¨C 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being said at 7:30 p.m. all at the church. Visitation will also be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be given to St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery in Middle Ridge in Paul's name.
