John Alvin Chandler, 77, retired farmer of Salt Lick, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary Chiles Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Chandler was a devoted family man, a member of the Church of God and faithful to his church, respected as a man and farmer and had many friends throughout the area.

Services were held Friday at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. McLean, on the Levee road by the Rev. Arthur Chandler.
