THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 13, 2011, page 5A. - Marlene Burris, 71, of Powderly, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Paris Regional Medical Center. The family has scheduled memorial services for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at First Christian Church with Rev. Charlotte Coyle officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Marlene, the daughter of Raymond D. and Lois Lillian Young, was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Lamar County. She worked a number of years in the insurance industry before beginning a career with Glass Investments from which she retired. Marlene was a faithful member of First Christian Church and loved the outdoors, spending time at the deer camp and rose gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Peggy Short; and three brothers, Wayne Young, Bill Young and Mike Pierce.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Burris; two daughters, Shanna Pruitt and husband, Tom, of Paris and Rene' Vest and husband, David, of Longview; two grandsons, Colton Chumbley of Paris and Alex Hagan of Longview; three stepchildren, Dale Burris and wife, Michelle, of Pattonville, Annette Logan of Fort Towson, Okla., and Stephen Burris and wife, Melissa, of Powderly; eight stepgrandchildren; along with her beloved dog, Mugs.
