Marlene, the daughter of Raymond D. and Lois Lillian Young, was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Lamar County. She worked a number of years in the insurance industry before beginning a career with Glass Investments from which she retired. Marlene was a faithful member of First Christian Church and loved the outdoors, spending time at the deer camp and rose gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Peggy Short; and three brothers, Wayne Young, Bill Young and Mike Pierce.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Burris; two daughters, Shanna Pruitt and husband, Tom, of Paris and Rene' Vest and husband, David, of Longview; two grandsons, Colton Chumbley of Paris and Alex Hagan of Longview; three stepchildren, Dale Burris and wife, Michelle, of Pattonville, Annette Logan of Fort Towson, Okla., and Stephen Burris and wife, Melissa, of Powderly; eight stepgrandchildren; along with her beloved dog, Mugs.
