Wilda A. Mahoney (nee Walker) of Woodbury on July 17, 2011. Aged 92 years.

Legacy

A strong and determined woman, Wilda was born in Stanford, West Virginia to Willard and Minnie (Warden) Walker; the sixth of nine children. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High in Beckley, WV in 1942, she went on to be employed by Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone. Wilda served as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. She attended Goucher College, Baltimore, Church Home and received her RN from Johns Hopkins. Wilda took many courses to support her nursing profession at University of Penn, Pittsburgh and Delaware. During WWII, she served as a cadet nurse at Aspinwall, PA. Her career took her to serve at the VA Hospital, Elsmere, DE, Visiting Nurses Association of South Jersey and Shady Lane Nursing Home, Clarksboro. Wilda retired in 1992.

Wilda was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Patrick's, enjoyed researching her genealogy, liked art and loved to spend time with her family.

Family

She is the devoted mother of Patrick (Maria); Kathleen Hitt (John), Michael J., Sr. (the late, Sandra), Karen Smeltz (Steve) and Kimberly Atkinson (Robert); dear mother-in-law of Barbara Mahoney; loving grandmother of Karla, David, Nick, Nathen, Dawn, Mary, Shannon, Michael Jr., Bobby, Stephanie, Ryan, Chelsea, Chrissy, Tommy, and Suzie; Great-grandmother of 12.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation 1 PM and Funeral Mass 2 PM Friday in Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick RC Church, 64 Cooper St., Woodbury. Interment Saturday 11 AM Graveside in White Clay Creek Cemetery, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Rd., Newark, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Disabled American Veterans #64 105 S.
