Doug Browne, age 56 went peacefully to be with our Lord Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at his residence in Thousand Oaks, after losing a courageous battle with diabetes. Doug was born Feb. 26, 1953 in Geneva, Ill. the son of Howard and Geneva Browne.
Doug was an incredibly gifted musician. He moved to California to pursue a music career when he was 18 years old. He had a passion for music as well as sports and nature. he loved watching his three sons play baseball, basketball, soccer, ice and roller hockey. He enjoyed writing his own music while sitting in the park watching the birds and squirrels play. His sons were the center of his world. He was the life of the party and loved to try and make the hard times easier for everyone. He had a heart of gold and loved to make other people feel special. he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his three sons; Dave, Paul, Brian and their mother Janet Browne all from California; mother Geneva Browne of Plano, Texas; sisters Linda (Jim) Huels of Carlyle, Ill, Barbara (Tom) Petersen of Chicago, Ill and Sandy (Ernie) Telfer of Big Rock, Ill; brothers Mike (Liz) of Plano Texas and Rich (Tisa) Browne of Kankakee, Ill; also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Howard "Buster" Browne in 1982.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 at Christian Church of Thousand Oaks, 301 W. Avenida de Las Flores. Arrangements are under the direction of the Griffin Family Funeral Chapel, Thousand Oaks.
