I'm researching Joseph's family tree and his death cert. has him buried here in Elmwood Cem. in Memphis. Joseph connects to me via my Wood and McKee trees. A wonderful volunteer found Joseph's grave for me and made a picture of his gravemarker in Elmwood Cem. in Memphis, TN and he also gave me a burial plot location. Joseph's parents were Joseph Nelson Hays Sr. and his mother was Mary F. Blackwell but so far I haven't found death dates or where they're buried for either of them. Joseph was killed in the line of duty, age 30, he was a Probation Officer for the US Gov't. I believe since Joseph's gravemarker has Father of Ernest Hays on it he was probably Joseph's only child and Ernest Joseph Hays is also buried in Elmwood Cem. and I'm linking father with son...
