Gaylon D. Abbey died December 10, 2009. A celebration of his life December 13, 2009 at East Side Baptist Church in Comanche with Rev. Steven Schulte and Rev. Bill Ellis officiating.

He was born July 3, 1934 to Edgar Carroll and Bernice Kelley Abbey.

He was a kind and gentle man who loved people. His family was the center of his life, he was a loving Paw Paw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gaylon spent his professional life helping people, he owned and operated Gaylon Abbey's Auto Service in Comanche for over 25 years. Before that he was a tech and shop foreman at Arthur Chevrolet in Comanche. For the last 8 years he had been employed by Hi-Way Auto Parts in Brownwood.
He was a long time member and deacon at East Side Baptist Church.

Gaylon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Bingham Abbey. Three sons and their wives, Jim and Nancy, Carroll and Rhonda, all of Comanche, and Mark and Belynda of Burnet, Texas.
Seven grandchildren, Taylor Abbey and fiancée Amanda Caltwedt, Emily Posey and her husband Daniel, Kassie Day and her husband Jacob, Allison Abbey, and Noah, Jonah, and Grace Abbey. Two great grandchildren, Fiona Vae Posey and Lakyn Faith Day. One brother, Wayland Abbey and wife Shirley of Comanche; sister-in-law, Inez Abbey of De Leon, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmo, E.W. 'Dub', and Jessie; and one sister, Nadine Clawson.
