SUN CITY -- Lyle L. Newlun, 78, an engineer 42 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring to Sun City in 1962 from Odgen, Utah, died Wednesday in Mountain View Pioneer Hospital.

Mr. Newlun of Monterosa, was a member of the United Church of Sun City, the Masonic Lodge in Odgen, Scottish Rite and Shrine, both in Salt Lake City and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was born January 19, 1893 in Pine, Colorado.

Survivors include his wife Nellie; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Martin of San Mateo, Calif.; three brothers and two sisters out of state.

Services will be at 1 pm tomorrow in Golden Door Chapel, 11211 Michigan Ave. Entombment will be in Memory Lawn Mausoleum in Phoenix.
