June Arlene Monahan, 75, passed away at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center after a period of declining health.

She was the daughter of Norman Wheeler and Ruth (Collins) (Wheeler) Howland. She was a longtime Lancaster resident, attended Lancaster Academy and earned her diploma in 1953.

She married Joseph Franklin Harold Monahan on March 7, 1953. Their children were Kim, Rodney, Jodi, Penny, Peggy, and Norman. In 1985 she took nursing courses at Berlin Technical College.

Her many interests included reading, knitting, crocheting, shopping, going out for lunch and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She had a great faith in God.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2008; her parents Norman Wheeler and Ruth Howland; her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Esther Monahan; and three brothers, William, Kenneth Lyle, and Robert Franklin "Tiny".

June is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kim (Monahan) and Lloyd Ingerson of Jefferson, son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Elaine Monahan of Stark, daughter and son-in-law, Jodi (Monahan) and Wes Welcome of East Concord, VT, daughter Penny (Monahan) Bradford of Lancaster, daughter Peggy (Monahan) Burchardt of Afghanistan, son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Robin Monahan of Gilman; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
