Mr. Charles Edward McDonald, 77, of Bardstown died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born December 16, 1933 in Fredericktown, was a US Army veteran and graduated from Mercer University College of Pharmacy. He was a retired pharmacist from Walgreens Drug Store in Lexington and was a member of St. Joseph Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Frederick and Mary Emma Gootee McDonald, 2 brothers, Joseph William "Bud" McDonald and James Frederick McDonald and a sister, Mary Elizabeth McDonald. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Cecil McDonald, a son, James E. McDonald of Cox's Creek, 2 daughters, Charlene Davis of Bardstown and Alicia Weatherbee of Madison, WI, 8 grandchildren, a brother, Robert Leon McDonald of Fredericktown and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Reverend Michael Wimsatt will officiate. The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 pm by Deacon John Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation. Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
