Tuck of Sherman and Major Vernon Tuck, Sherman physician now serving with the Army in England; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Foree Jr. of Dallas, Mrs. Elizabeth Tuck Higginbotham of Sherman and Mrs. W.J. Smith of Pampa; a sister, Mrs. Vernon Brown of Sherman; a brother, Tom Tuck of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lon M. Tuck, Pioneer of Sherman, Dies
Sherman, Texas, April 23. - Lon M. Tuck, 75, said to be the oldest native resident of Sherman and operator of an abstract business here fifty years, died suddenly Monday at this home from, a heart attack.
Tuck, whose knowledge of land records, and values in this area was unexcelled, had been in failing health for several years but his condition had only grown worse the last week. He had continued his uninterrupted daily visits to the office through Saturday.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:30 p. m. at the family home. The Reverend Ed R. Baccus Jr., pastor of the Travis Street Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in West Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Nannie Green of Van Alstyne, whom her married in 1893; two sons, H. G. Tuck of Sherman and Major Vernon Tuck, Sherman physician now serving with the Army in England; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Foree Jr. of Dallas, Mrs. Elizabeth Tuck Higginbotham of Sherman and Mrs. W. J. Smith of Pampa; a sister, Mrs. Vernon Brown of Sherman; a brother, Tom Tuck of San Diego, California; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Tuck was born May 24, 1869, on a farm near Sherman's present municipal airport, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram N. Tuck. His parents had moved to Texas from Missouri four years earlier. He attended the old Captain Le Tellier's Academy here and later studied at Southwestern University, Georgetown.
A resident of Sherman his entire life, Tuck had a vivid record of history and traditions in and around Sherman.
He served as County Clerk from 1889 to 1899. Afterward he entered the Chapin Abstract Company which was established in 1872 and continued as an active member of the firm the remainder of his life with the exception of eight years from 1913 to 1922 when he served as manager of the Gunter land and ranch interests. He and his son, H. G. Tuck, former Sherman Mayor had operated the business continuously since 1914 and his knowledge of surveys, records and land values were held phenomenal.
Tuck was president of the Grayson County Old Settlers Association which annually holds a reunion at its grounds in Northeast Sherman. For many years he was president of the Sherman Country Club and was a member of the Masons and Knights of Pythias. He also was a member of the Travis Street Church where his father was a member of the official board early in the church history.
