Thomas Clyde Strain 80, died early this morning at St. Joseph's hospital following a short illness. He lived at 1005 West Second St.
The son of Hugh and Mary Chapman Strain, he was born in Mahaska County on March 11, 1880. He married Mary Catherine Whalen (WHELAN)in 1930 in Ottumwa.She died Feb. 6, 1959.
Mr. Strain had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1929 when he retired from farming.
Surviving are two sisters; Miss Georgia Strain of Blakesburg and,Mrs. Mary L. Myers of of Fremont; two brothers Fred Strain of Blaksburg, and John Strain of Eddyville; two nieces and three nephews. One sister and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. at Vaughan funeral home and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's church where a Requiem Mass will be held. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
