Picture is of My Great Aunt Mary and my dad James Matthew Lanigan. Spring of 1919.Next picture was taken at our home at 928 Pershing Ave. In picture is my grandfather James Aloysious Lanigan, little girl is me, brother Jimmy and Aunt Mary standing by the tree. Taken in 1943 as I was born in Nov of 1942. My grandma Anna Phillips Lanigan is in this picture too as walking away~~~

Mrs. Mary Strain 75, of 1005 West Second Street; wife of Thomas C. "Clyde" Strain died at 6:05 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's hospital.

The daughter of Thomas and Sarah Whalen; (WHELAN)she was born in Ottumwa Jan. 13, 1884 and lived here her entire life. For many years she taught in local schools.

She was married to Clyde Strain on Nov. 27, 1930 at St. Mary's Catholic church. She was a member of St. Mary's and of the Alter and Rosary society.

Besides her husband she is survived by a niece Mary Graham Abernathy who lived in the Strain home, and another niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church with the Rev. W.E. Cullinan officiating the high requiem mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Whalen,(WHELAN) Farrell Whalen,(WHELAN) Forrest Johnson, Nick Nelswanger, John Strain, and Park Sullivan.

*Wife of Clyde; daughter of Thomas Whalen (WHELAN)and Sarah Lanigan.

The baby in the stroller is my father James Matthew Lanigan; son of James & Anna Phillips Lanigan. Sarah and Clyde never had any children. Mary was a school teacher.
